Hi everyone hope all are ok x i went to see my rheumatology on friday the 24th sep ive had RA since april this year ive been on,
MTX 25mg + Hyp 200mg but the drugs as had no effect in the 6 months off taking them . Ive know been offered drug that you injected yourself onces a week does anyone know off this sort of treatment ? got to have bloodtest in the morning + chest X ray.
I would be ever so grateful with any advice. Take care & keep smilling xxxxx Graham

Hi Graham, I hope you don't mind but I took the liberty of posing your question in a new topic as it was a bit tucked away where people might not notice it.
A mod is supposed to do the moving really.

The new drug you mention sounds to me like it might be HUMIRA or ENBREL- the chest and bloods are necessary precautions before taking these.
I'm on Humira and MTX.
YES I'VE CHANGED, PAIN DOES THAT TO PEOPLE.

hi Graham,

not sure what new Drug you are going to have in injection form ... but when i spoke last to my Rheumy Nurse as my Methotrexate to date isn't working, just built up to 20mg from 15mg she said the next idea might be Methotrexate in injection form as it absorbs more easily .. so wondering if it could be this.

let us know how you got on,

Suzanne

Hi Graham

I have just started on Enbrel which is self inject once a week. It is an anti-tnf drug which is more effective than the DMARD's like Methotrexate. I was really apprehensive about it because it can strip the immune system but did my first injection on Monday and so far I have had no adverse reaction to it. I had to have a chest x ray, lung function test and bloods before I was started on it. It is an expensive drug so you have to go through two disease activity tests a month apart before you can start on it, so it may not be Enbrel. Let us know how you get on.

Hi everyone thankyou all for the brilliant advice also thanks julie x i saw my rheumatologist on fri there is 3 drugs they are looking at they are Anti TNF Drugs the first

Hi Graham
So sorry to hear life is so tough for you at the moment. Hope that the new treatment is effective quickly. I too am waiting to start on Enbrel and it is very helpful to read other members experiences to encourage you.
I hope that your mum's operation goes well. I will pray for you both.

hi Graham,

so sorry things are so tough for you right now, life sure has a way of kicking you when you're down.

i'm fairly newly diagnosed so all the drugs you mention are new to me as i am currently just on Methotrexate ... got to give it another 4 weeks before they will add or whatever they decide to do.

let's know how you are getting on when you can,

take care of yourself,

Suzanne x

Hi Graham

I have been on Enbrel for 7 years and it gave me my life back. I was like you in a lot of pain all over my body. Sincerely hope that it is successful for you.

Hope your Mums operation goes well.

Best wishes

Sorry to hear the pain is so bad Graham. The stress of knowing you have to carry on for your mum will not help the RA. I hope her surgery goes ahead without any hitches and you can get cracking on the enbrel.

Good luck and good wishes.

Sorry to hear about your Mum Graham, it must be a great strain on you.
Hope you get the Enbrel soon , a lot of people have found it to be very effective.

Love, Doreen xx
